Water Bill Auditing

Why You Should Audit Your Water Bills

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection routinely over bills you for your water and sewer usage. One reason is that the process of monitoring and billing is subject to human and technological errors.

Other reasons for over billing are:

  • Estimated Bills - By definition, estimates are not accurate. Estimated bills occur when the DEP estimates water consumption based on past actual reads. AWS can correct inaccurate estimates.

  • Broken Meters - A faulty meter can generate inaccurate readings, resulting in abnormally high water bills. AWS can verify readings and check the accuracy of meters.

  • Frontage Billing - You may be billed for lines or fixtures you do not own. AWS can obtain refunds for errors in frontage billing.

  • Overlapping Billing - Dates on your billing cycle may overlap so that you are paying double for some water use. AWS can catch and correct this.

Ashokan's audit of your water bills pays for itself!

Ashokan Water Services will audit your water bill on a contingency basis. If we do not save you money, we do not make money. Conversely, the more money we save for you, the more we make for ourselves. So it is in our interest to get you the greatest rebate possible.

Our auditors seek out over billing and our legal staff fights for your refunds before the DEP's administrative review boards. You cannot lose by having our auditors perform a water bill audit.

For a no obligation water evaluation, call Ashokan Services at (718) 499-4008.

Cammeby’s International
301 West 53rd Street, NYC

Description: Luxury tower with 200 apartments and 20,000 sq. ft. retail space

How AWS Helped: In 2001, Cammeby’s annual water and sewer bill exceeded $237,000.00. The company was paying surcharges and fines and the commercial tenants were not paying their fair share of the bill.

Ashokan reduced the annual bill to $94,000.00 and obtained a refund from the DEP for $174,000.00.

Result: By using Ashokan’s Bill Auditing service, Cammeby’s is saving $143,000.00 a year -- in spite of increases in water and sewer charges.
