Now we can monitor your water consumption remotely -- helping you to save time and money. Ashokan offers state-of-the-art water meter consumption monitoring for our clients at a nominal fee.

How it Works

We install an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) unit next to your meter and connect it to a phone line. The datalogger reads your meter hourly and transmits it to our office every week. Ashokan reviews and analyzes the information, looking for signs of leaks such as high and/or unusual patterns of consumption. If your building has a leak we will notify you within the week. We also fax out a detailed monthly report to all our clients indicating their consumption for the month.

In addition, Ashokan has partnered with the NYC DEP to allow us to transmit your reading to them, eliminating estimates and saving you even more money. We are currently working with the other water providers in the NY metropolitan area to offer the same service.

The New York City DEP is running a program to partially reimburse property owners who switch their buildings to AMR. If your building is in NYC may be eligible to receive AMR service for an extremely low price. Call our office at (718) 499-4008 for more details.

You should consider AMR if:

• You have recently switched to metered billing. Now that you are paying for the exact amount of water that you consume, it is especially important that you monitor your meter to ensure that a sudden leak does not eat away at your bottom line.
  
  
• You are currently on frontage billing and you are thinking about switching to metered billing. To ensure that you will not end up paying more money by going onto metered billing, Ashokan recommends a detailed analysis of your water consumption with AMR.
  
  
• You own property in New Jersey or Long Island, where water costs are relatively high. Even a small leak could cost you significant money. Correcting small leaks now will reduce your bills. Because the stakes are higher, it is even more important to be on AMR.

AMR Pays For Itself

It has been our experience that AMR pays for itself. Even if Ashokan only catches one leak, AMR is usually justified.
